WHAT?
Small groups are groups of first year students meeting for fellowship as well as to fulfil EUCU mission statement to give very student at Edinburgh University the opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel in the specific context of their Halls or accomodation. We meet to encourage each other in living for Jesus at uni, in our personal witness to friends and by organising ways in which we can go out with the Gospel to our Halls and those around us throughout the year, as a group. Each week we meet to read God’s word, being united and motivated by the truth and to pray together as we rely on God.
WHO?
This is open to anyone in first year who is interested in meeting for fellowship and service with a group of Christians, their own age and stage. It is also an invitation to those who are interested in learning more about Jesus Christ and what it means to follow him.
WHERE?
Small groups meet initially in Holland House Common Room on Thurs 16th September at 5.30pm, if you live in Pollock Halls, or at 2.30pm in the Chaplaincy, Bristo Square, if you are in self catered accommodation or living at home. After the initial meeting we will meet in Halls or in your small group leaders flat.
WHEN?
Small groups meet every week normally in the evening for a few hours. Times and locations vary from group to group. For initial, first meeting of the year see above.
WHY?
At EUCU we recognise that coming into university for the first time can be a very daunting experience and due to the large numbers who attend CU, small groups are a great way to introduce new students to life at Edinburgh University and CU. We also recognise that EUCU mission statement to give very student at Edinburgh University the opportunity to hear and respond to the Gospel is more realistically achieved by smaller groups within specific communities.
If you’re a fresher this year and want to get to know other Christians and support each other as you live for Christ at uni and if you want to share the Gospel with others, or if you’re new to Christianity and want to know more - small groups are what you’re looking for.
